I've reserved seating for 16 people during the Bay Bar & Grill happy hour this coming Thursday, May 30th for the paddling group. It will be set up for us in the back by 4:45 pm. People generally arrive between 4:45 and 5:15 depending on their schedules.

By about 5:15pm I'll want to focus discussion on our

Big Springs event

The location is about 30 miles South of West Yellowstone. It's been one of our major events for 5 years. The building is basic but relatively large with a nice wood stove and large picnic table / benches. Plenty of room! The parking lot is the size of a football field and we are 200 yards back in trees from the paved road.

This year we will hold it on a weekend so more people can attend.

Arrive Friday June 7th 2pm or later and leave by 11am Monday or earlier.
To get a weekend reservation we had to reserve and pay for it a full year in advance (using an organizer's credit card).

We will launch in about 6 inches of slow moving water. After that generally in 2' to 3' of clear water and you can sometimes see schools of migrating trout going under your boat. Likely see one or two
bald eagles and possibly a moose.

Other things to do: Visit Harriman State Park (30 min drive) for a view of the distant Grand Tetons peaks and get a day use parking sticker at the ranger office (much easier than at the Upper Mesa Falls). Another 30 min drive to Upper Mesa Falls (with a trail and boardwalk down to the edge of the falls). Also a small interesting museum (arrive early to get parking).

Much planning and scouting and prepayment has gone into this event, which we think is worthwhile.
