Building your apps in offline-first mode - Wim Godden
The Internet seems to be always-on, for everyone, all the time. But what if it isn’t ? What if you’re in a location where Internet is spotty, either as a provider of a service, or for your users ? Building your apps to work without Internet presence can often save the day, especially on high-traffic, temporary locations that overload the local mobile networks. Let’s walk through techniques that can ensure your app has a nice fallback.
About the speaker:
Wim Godden has been working with open source technologies since 1997 and has been involved in open source projects such as PHPCompatibility and OpenX.
Next to web development, he’s worked with a wide range of technologies (from database clusters to Internet backbone design) and focuses a lot of his time on high-scalability projects and on coaching/training web engineers.
He’s currently the CTO at one of the leading European locker companies for luggage storage and festivals/concerts.
