Have you ever come across a tree and wondered about its species?

Would you like to distinguish between a spruce and a fir, or a maple and a sycamore?

In this walk, I’ll introduce you to both common and rare tree species.

Lone Fir is not only a world-class example of a cemetery but an unofficial arboretum, home to over 700 trees belonging to 67 different species. Its dense planting of diverse specimens makes it an ideal location for a tree identification walk. As we stroll through the graves of resting souls, we’ll marvel at the trees towering above.

A passionate plant geek, I enjoy identifying plants and trees wherever I go. I studied horticulture and forestry at Michigan State University, and I can talk about plants for hours. You don’t have to stay for the entire walk—feel free to join us and leave whenever you’re ready. This event is expected to last about two hours, and afterward, we’ll likely grab pizza at Baby Doll Pizza, which is just a block away.

I look forward to seeing you there!

This event is free to attend. If you wish to donate to my cause, you may find my Venmo at: @StevenGoldberger
