Although we have the smallest membership worldwide, with 5 to 7 million people total (estimated) and just 177,000 in the United States, the Faith is the second fastest growing religion just behind Christianity. In fact, our members can be found in every country and most communities in the world. Consider that it was founded in 1844, in just 180 years, we have come a long way!

The principles of the Bahá'í Faith include:

1. The oneness of God, that is, there is only one God.
2. The oneness of Religion, that is, all religions were created by the same God, and worship the same God, with the same basic message of peace, love and harmony.
3. The Oneness of Humanity, that is, all people belong to the same human race.
4. Now is the time to unite all people and eradicate racism and prejudice of all kinds, since there is only one human race.
5. Women and Men are equal, and women should be given equal opportunity with men in all aspects of society.
6. Independent investigation of truth. Each person is obligated to investigate the claims of the Faith set down by the Prophet-Founder, Bahá'u'lláh, since a professional class of clergy is prohibited. We do not have ministers.
7. The essential harmony of science and religion.
8. Universal, compulsory education. If a family can not afford to educate all of the children, education for the girls should be a priority, since they will be the mothers and first educators of the next generation.
9. A universal, auxiliary international language should be developed and taught in all schools, so that there will be no barriers to friendship and peace among all people.
