CTO @ Pygmalios, is passionate about Big Data, AI and JavaScript and aims to craft high-throughput, low-latency real-time stream processing apps for a retail analytics platform.

Exactly once delivery

Abstract:

In a distributed system, the computers that make up the system can always fail independently of one another and exactly once delivery is one of the hardest problems to solve. I will talk about Kafka messaging API for building applications and how we solved this problem in retail analytics platform Pygmalios. I will also provide highlights about new features which Kafka released for exactly-once message delivery this summer.

Bio:

Data Science Lead at Exponea. Currently really enjoying leading the best AI team I could imagine. Interested in AI in general with focus on recommender systems. In AI team we've built and still building reusable real-time recommender systems, prediction models and solving various optimisation problems. Beside that I believe AI models should reflect world in real-time manner. Therefore my second passion is data streams processing.

Abstract:

Nowadays we observe growing interest in data streams processing. As world changes there is need for systems to react and adapt in real-time. Our definition of real-time means that every message is processed within milliseconds. In this talk we will briefly talk about concepts of data streams processing. We will also give you basics of Kafka Streams library, how easy is to use it and what problems it can solve. In the end we'll show you how we're using Kafka Streams in Exponea.
