What we're about

This Meetup group is for anyone who is concerned about the ubiquity of high tech (smartphones, wearables, voice technology, drones, surveillance tech, public and private), and the rise of mega companies with bottomless pockets and oceans of data about us (Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft, Uber). We gather to connect, discuss our concerns, and think together about how we can ensure that we live healthy lives and promote and foster what is good for the greater good in what we do and what we advocate for.

Topics we will touch on: Tech addiction and its effect on our children, our social lives, our work, etc.; the rise of automation and what that means in terms of work and labor; the rise of giant companies that have multiple lines of business and that leverage their assets monopolistically; privacy and the extent to which we are providing large companies (Amazon, Google, Facebook, etc.) with intimate details about ourselves and our lives.
