About us
Capoeira in the Park - Beginner-Friendly Roda
Come learn the fundamentals of capoeira in a relaxed, outdoor setting! This is a biweekly gathering for anyone curious about capoeira. No experience, gear, or partner needed. Just bring comfortable clothes, water, and an open mind.
What we'll cover:
Ginga (the foundational sway/movement) and basic footwork
Core kicks and escapes (esquivas)
Rhythm, musicality, and an intro to the roda (the circle where capoeira "happens")
Basic acrobatics and body control for those who want to push further
What to expect:
A welcoming space for total beginners: we'll break everything down step by step
Sessions run about 60 minutes, weather permitting.
All ages above 18 and fitness levels welcome
Held every other Wednesday at Wyomissing Park, behind the tennis courts.
What to bring:
Comfortable athletic clothing you can move in
Water bottle
A mat or towel is optional but nice for stretching
Capoeira is traditionally practiced barefoot, but shoes are fine while you're learning
Capoeira blends martial art, dance, music, and game. It's a full-body practice that builds strength, flexibility, and rhythm while connecting you with a community. No pressure, no competition; just movement, learning, and fun.
Questions? Drop them in the comments or message the organizer. See you in the roda!
