Beginners Brazilian Drumming Workshop

Our Alfaia beginners access 3 hour weekend workshop covers the basic techniques and rhythms for Maracatu on the Alfaia bass drum. No previous musical skills required. Drum provided.

Our community of percussionists (and dancers) is a friendly family of people from all over the world who have come together to meet new people and share a love for music, dance, and expression. Joining our classes is not just an opportunity to learn something new, it's a chance to meet a new group of people who regularly organise social events and perform together at events across London and the UK.

Maracatu is a traditional form of carnival percussion, that has deep roots in Afro-Brazilian traditions, and a major form of carnival in Recife, Brazil. It's the rootsy 'grandad' of Samba.
