Dear Brazilian music lovers,
Join us Wednesday -- Thanksgiving Eve -- in Georgetown for some live Brazilian jazz!
World-renowned vocalist, Elin, of Peruvian and Irish heritage, originally hails from Sweden, where she was born and raised. After becoming enamored with Brazilian music, she embarked on a life-long journey to perform Brazilian jazz around the world. Based in the DMV since 2011, Elin has recorded & collaborated with Thievery Corporation, PostClassical Ensemble, and performed at the areas top venues including just last week at the Kennedy Center with Brazilian classical phenomenon, pianist Andre Mehmari.
At Blues Alley, Elin will sing songs from the beginning, middle and end of Elis Regina's career, with arrangements by Antonio Adolfo, who played piano and toured with Elis in the late 1960's. These arrangements are also featured on Elin's tribute album to Elis, which is in its final stages of completion, to be released in 2025, recorded in NYC and featuring Antonio Adolfo, plus 8-time Grammy winner Christian McBride on bass, Grammy winner (with Eliane Elias) Rafael Barata on drums, and Yotam Silberstein on guitar. A jazz-quartet reimagining of Elis Regina's music.
