About us
Bread Moves is a gathering for people who want to make more, know more and depend less on systems that leave them disconnected from their food, their work and one another.
Bread is where the conversation starts. It is not where it ends.
A loaf is practical, ordinary and shared. It connects skill, culture, cost, labour, trade, health, memory and community.
Bread Moves uses that familiar starting point to explore a much larger question:
What would life look like if more of us could create useful things, build direct relationships and participate in the economy on our own terms?
Our gatherings bring together makers, independent thinkers, small business owners, creators, home cooks, growers, technologists, organizers and people who simply feel that something important has been lost.
Conversations and events may explore:
• The homemade and household economy
• Practical skills and everyday competence
• Local production and direct trade
• Independent businesses and small-scale enterprise
• Food, culture and community
• Owned media and direct relationships
• Tools that give people greater agency
• New ways to gather, collaborate and build outside established institutions
You do not need to be a baker.
You do not need to own a business.
You do not need to arrive with a fully formed ideology.
Bring curiosity, experience, questions, something you are making or an idea you cannot find the right room to discuss.
Bread Moves is the space.
Make something. Know how it works. Share what you learn.
