Join BASH for a thoughtful and engaging discussion with special guest speaker Tony Ray, founder of Florida Death with Dignity. A fifth-generation Floridian, Tony founded the organization in 2020 after witnessing multiple family members suffer through terminal illnesses. Motivated to bring compassion, dignity, and end-of-life choice to Floridians, he began working with the Death with Dignity National Center to advocate for medical aid-in-dying legislation in Florida. Before retiring, Tony spent more than 40 years building a successful commercial and residential construction company where leadership, quality, and customer satisfaction defined his work. Today, he brings those same organizational and leadership skills to growing Florida Death with Dignity and advancing public awareness around end-of-life autonomy and compassionate care options. Tony describes this advocacy as “the most important thing I have ever done” outside of family life. This event will explore the mission of Florida Death with Dignity, the current state of medical aid-in-dying laws, ethical and legal considerations, and how advocacy efforts are developing here in Florida. Whether you are deeply familiar with the topic or simply curious to learn more, this promises to be an informative and respectful conversation
