The OU orchestra’s Spring Concert will feature four works, each festive and celebratory, but all with an undercurrent of something darker.
The programme comprises Shostakovich’s Festive Overture (written in just 3 days), Mozart’s Symphony No. 4 (composed at the age of 9), Tchaikovsky’s Sleeping Beauty Suite (written bar for bar even faster than the Shostakovich) and Marquez’s Danzon No. 2 (popularised by the Simon Bolivar Orchestra, but commissioned by a University and premiered by a University symphony orchestra).
All are welcome and admission is free. Advance booking is highly recommended for this concert to secure a seat, via www.ticketsource.co.uk/ouorchestra
Tickets on the door will be subject to availability.
We can meet up before the concert in the restaurant next to the theatre for lunch or a snack, and possibly for a drink after the concert. Meet at 12.00 in the restaurant if you want to join some of us.
