Join us for Brighton AI's "Building an AI Centric City for Good" meetup which will explore the potential for artificial intelligence (AI) to positively transform cities, with a focus on Brighton and Hove. Hosted by Rose Tighe and Martin Howe, the event will feature key presenters from academia, business, and innovation sectors.
The event will begin with an introduction from the hosts, who will reflect on their six-month journey investigating how AI can reshape city life. Katherine Church from KC Digital Consultancy will provide insights into the principles guiding technological change and discuss how AI will influence these dynamics.
A panel discussion will follow, featuring Stuart Hedley from the University of Brighton, who will explain how the university collaborates with businesses and what funding opportunities are available. Maria Bedoya from Sussex Innovation Centre (SINC) will present their research on three key opportunity areas for Sussex, highlighting how the region could benefit from AI.
A second panel, with Richard Freeman of Always Possible addressing the “Brighton Paradox” and why this moment might be ideal for change. He will also cover other cities' efforts around AI and collaboration. Grace Prior from Silicon Brighton will outline her plans for AI in the tech cluster and how this will serve as a vehicle for change in the region.
The event will conclude with an audience Q&A and final reflections by Rose and Martin, maintaining a focus on AI’s broader implications rather than delving into its technical aspects.
