The Fermi Paradox: Why is the Universe Ghosting Us?

Our speaker this month is Brighton Astro legend Tom Elphick:

With billions of galaxies and trillions of stars in our universe, the maths suggests we should be part of a bustling, vibrant cosmic neighbourhood - yet, for reasons that remain one of science’s greatest mysteries, we find ourselves in a profound and unsettling silence. We’re diving into the Fermi Paradox: the ultimate "where is everybody?" question that challenges everything we think we know about our place in the universe. Whether we are being ghosted by advanced civilisations, living in a cosmic nature preserve, or simply arriving too early to the party.

For this meeting we will be at Wagner Hall on Regency Road, Brighton.

Attendance is free, but we would be grateful if those of you who are able to could donate a few pounds to help cover the cost of hiring this event space. We will have a card reader and a money box you can drop your donations in on the night. We also have a bank account you can donate to electronically.
