What part will hydrogen play in getting to Net Zero? with Abigail Dombey CEng CEnv at Wagner Hall on Wednesday 12th February 2025 (doors open 7:15, talk starts at 8:00).

Hydrogen is being hyped as THE energy vector for the transition to net zero. However, whilst it will be essential for the decarbonisation of many areas of the economy, there will be limits to its use. This presentation will identify

  • the key uses for hydrogen and hydrogen-derived fuels,
  • those uses where there are likely to be more efficient alternatives to hydrogen,

and will discuss Sussex’s strengths in hydrogen.
Abigail Dombey (CEng CEnv) is an energy and sustainability engineer at Net Zero Associates, and is Chair of Hydrogen Sussex. Abigail has an extensive background in carbon reduction projects in the public sector, having spent 10 years as Head of Sustainability at the University of Brighton. She has worked on a number of decarbonisation projects across industrial sectors, and is currently leading on a UK Government funded Industrial Fuel Switching project to trial using green hydrogen as a fuel source.

This talk will take place at the Wagner Hall on West Street, Brighton; doors and bar open at 7:15, talk starts at 8:00. There will be plenty of time for questions and answers at the end of the talk.
