The Cancer Research Revolution and Reasons for Optimism with Prof. Timothy Humphrey, University of Sussex. Wednesday 13th August 2025 at the Wagner Hall, West Street, Brighton.
Tim Humphrey recently moved from the University of Oxford to the University of Sussex where he is Professor of Translational Research and Genome Stability. In this talk he will present an overview of the remarkable advances in cancer research and treatments that have become available over the last 25 years. He will discuss his own research, which exploits specific cancer mutations to target cancer; the launch of the Sussex Cancer Research Centre, which brings together scientists, clinicians, and people with cancer from across Brighton and Sussex to improve cancer treatments; and his reasons for optimism in targeting cancer.
Times: Doors and bar open at 7:00pm, talk starts at 7:30. Short break at 8:15 followed by Q&A.
Wagner Hall is on West Street, 200 m down from the Clock Tower on the right-hand side, adjoining the Bright Helm pub and next to the entrance to the Churchill Square Orange car park.
