Modular synthesis talk from Andrew Duff + live performance from VCOADSR:

Andrew Duff is a sound artist who experiments with reactive and interactive audio/visual media, experimental analogue and digital audio, and various forms of old and new media artefacts. Since 2006 he has worked at the University of Sussex as a Digital Media Teaching Fellow, where he organises the Brighton Modular Meet with the support of the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts and the Department of Media, Film and Music.

Andrew will talk about and demonstrate his eurorack modular synth and modified Vectrex oscillographic system. There will be a bit of history and context of both the work and his interest in synths and audio visualisation.

VCOADSR (pronounced phonetically “vee-see-oh-ay-dee-ess-arr”) is the artist name of Phil Bilsby an electronic music producer & performer based in Brighton, UK.Over the last 18 months VCOADSR has built a reputation, within the modular community in the UK, of playing unashamed bass heavy & dark techno using only his 9U Eurorack synth and a mixer. His current live improvised Techno sets are a natural progression from his more recent releases in 2013 to 2016 including ‘Modular Sessions Vol.1 & 2’ that saw him record a collection of one-take improvised tracks ranging from dark experimental soundscapes to raw techno.
