The road to Type 2 Diabetes does not have to be a one-way street. People who eat plant-based meals are less likely to ever develop diabetes, and for those who have diabetes, plant-based meals can help to improve blood sugar levels and prevent complications.
Join me for this 6-week course where you'll learn the latest science behind a low-fat plant-based approach to the management of Type 2 Diabetes. Over the 6 weeks, we'll discuss the science supporting a plant-based diet in Type 2 Diabetes and provide the knowledge and resources for trying out this new way of eating. Each two-hour session will start with an introduction and a short video, followed by a cooking class where you can cook simple healthy vegan dishes and take the food home with you. You will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage in discussion. No cooking experience is required and all ingredients and equipment are provided.
How Foods Fight Diabetes is part of the Food For Life programme which has been created by the Physicians Committee, a not-for-profit based in America, which is supported by over 12,000 doctors who realise that one of the most powerful ways to promote health is through a plant-based diet.
WHY
A vegan diet of whole grains, beans, vegetables and fruits can help prevent diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer and other chronic diseases. How Foods Fight Diabetes is about embracing an overall healthful diet. It's about choosing the right foods for staying healthy and managing weight as well as improving energy and mood.
