Discussion of "The Femail Eunuch" (January 2019 Book Club Meet)
The winner of the poll for the first book of 2019 is a classic - "The Female Eunuch" by Germaine Greer. The book hardly needs an introduction and along with Simone de Beauvoir's "The Second Sex" is regarded as a classic of 20th century feminist analysis. Nearly 50 years after its publication, does it still have something to say? It is up to you to decide book club members, so please come along and make your voice heard at the discussion. We did consider a slight change to the discussion format. If you want to (not obligatory), jot a thought or two down about the book on a card or a piece of paper and we will throw it into the ring to open up debate. January is a long month and we also have the Christmas break to complete reading. Merry Christmas and happy New Year to all! See you in January 2019.

    What we're about

We are a Brighton based book club and we concentrate exclusively on non-fiction.

Non-fiction is an enormously wide "genre" and to date our choices have included but not been limited to art, economics, culture, politics, history, religion, biographies, science, feminism, philosophy, medicine and even a celebrity memoir! We meet monthly on the last Thursday of each month, except at Christmas, although we do try to organise a small Xmas party.

The format is simple. Members attending the book club can put books forward, which then go into a poll. All members can vote in the poll. Each month we read the winning book, then turn up in person to discuss it.

Be prepared for some lively debate and we look forward to seeing you!
