For this event we are reading An Ocean of Air by Gabrielle Walker (ISBN 978-0747592907). 2000 years ago it was suggested that we breathe in order to cool our bodies. Now we otherwise. But how did scientists identify the gases that make up the atmosphere, its various layers and how it is important for life? This book tells that story.
Come along and join the discussion. We meet on the third Wednesday of each month in the bar of the Holiday Inn on the seafront, near the i360..
We alternate each meetup with a free book choice and a chosen book choice and we sometimes meet in Brighton at the Holiday Inn reception and at other times meet online.
In the 'any book' events just come along and discuss with us a book you've recently read, a science related topic you've been studying or even just an article in the New Scientist other other publication you've found fascinating.
In the chosen book events, we will select a named book, read it in advance and discuss the book amongst ourselves on the day.
