What we're about

We ask all members to pay a one off subscription of £3 to join the Bugs. £2 of this will be donated to our Charity of the Year (for 2017 this is Fareshare Sussex) and the other £1 will be used to cover the costs of keeping the group alive on Meetup and buying essential items for our Meetups.

Please note that we will never charge for any of our Meetups (unless they involve payment to external organisations/accommodation etc) and do not make a profit from any of the activities we post on our site.

You can pay your £3 contribution in one of the following ways;

Bank Transfer to the following account details;

Brighton Adventure Bugs

Acc: 56971468

Sort: 30-65-65

Or through Paypal to the following email address;

Please note that your membership request will not be approved until you have paid the £3 joining fee. This is to keep Meetup fees down by limiting group membership to active members.

Once you have paid your £3 joining fee you can also request access to our closed Facebook group (search for Brighton Adventure Bugs on Facebook) This is a place to socialise more informally with other members and allow you to post up last minute events, give away your spare theatre tickets, let your friends know what's happening and where you can meet. Note that all of our main events will always be posted on the main Meetup site and you should always RSVP to ensure that the event organiser knows how many people to expect.

"Just like minded people with a healthy love of the great outdoors"

Our Meetups, like our members, are diverse and varied. Some of the activities you are likely to see posted on our site are walks (of varying lengths/levels), sea swims, bike rides, climbing, weekend trips away and social evenings out.

We are only as successful and functioning as all the bugs that make up this group. Like bugs, we work together. Please do contact any of the organisers if you would like to arrange a Meetup - we, as the organisers, arrange the core activities but we are also looking for your input into the club with fresh ideas.

We are a tolerant group who welcome people from all different walks of life. Please always treat other members with common courtesy and respect. Racial prejudice, sexual abuse, online abuse or threatening behaviour may lead to the termination of your membership.

The group has always been fun and a little wacky! Whatever your level you should find something of interest and there is a strong social element to the club too.

It is up to every member to take care of themselves for any activity they sign up for. Please bring food and water on all activities and any medication that you require. Some activities may be considered 'dangerous' such as mountain biking and injuries do occur. Do not sign up to any event that you do not consider yourself fit for. The organisers accept no responsibility for any injury that may occur on any Adventure Bugs meetup. Please do read this statement before joining the club:

IMPORTANT NOTE: We consider safety to be our number one priority and while we never take unnecessary risks, we do recognise that any outdoor activity involves a danger of personal injury or death. Remember that you should be aware of and accept these risks as you are responsible for your own safety and you should not undertake anything beyond your abilities. It is also your responsibility to be correctly equipped for the weather and activity you have chosen to participate in.

The organizers of the Bugs recommend that everyone participating in outdoor activities obtain appropriate insurance. The BMC offer excellent policies for all outdoor enthusiasts at very competitive rates: https://www.thebmc.co.uk/modules/insurance/Landing. (https://www.thebmc.co.uk/modules/insurance/Landing.aspx)
