What we're about

“May your adventures bring you closer together, even as they take you far away from home”

Our Meetups, like our members, are diverse and varied. Some of the activities you are likely to see posted on our site are walks (of varying lengths/levels), sea swims, bike rides, climbing, weekend trips away and social evenings out. Whatever your passion or level of fitness, you should find something of interest.

We are only as successful and functioning as all the Bugs that make up this group. Like Bugs, we work together. Please do contact any of the organisers if you would like to arrange a Meetup - we, as the organisers, arrange the core activities but we are also looking for your input into the club with fresh ideas.

We charge an annual (voluntary) membership fee of £4 to cover the costs of keeping the club alive on Meetup. We are committed to supporting local charities and donate any excess funds raised to our charity partner Fareshare Sussex. (https://faresharesussex.org.uk/) If you want to make an additional donation to the club you can do so via Paypal using the email address brightonadventurebugs@gmail.com.

It is up to every member to take care of themselves for any activity they sign up for. Please bring food and water on all activities and any medication that you require. Some activities may be considered 'dangerous' such as mountain biking, and injuries sometimes do occur. Do not sign up to any event that you do not consider yourself fit for. The organisers accept no responsibility for any injury that may occur on any Adventure Bugs Meetup. Please do read this statement before joining the club:

IMPORTANT NOTE: We consider safety to be our number one priority and while we never take unnecessary risks, we do recognise that any outdoor activity involves a danger of personal injury or death. Remember that you should be aware of and accept these risks as you are responsible for your own safety and you should not undertake anything beyond your abilities. It is also your responsibility to be correctly equipped for the weather and activity you have chosen to participate in.

Please always treat other members with common courtesy and respect. Racial prejudice, sexual abuse, online abuse or threatening behaviour will not be tolerated and may lead to the termination of your membership.

The organisers of the Bugs recommend that everyone participating in outdoor activities obtain appropriate insurance. The BMC offer excellent policies for all outdoor enthusiasts at very competitive rates: https://www.thebmc.co.uk/modules/insurance/Landing. (https://www.thebmc.co.uk/modules/insurance/Landing.aspx)
