Mac DeMarco - Totally Sold Out

A little story. December 2012 a small group of people (including me) headed to the Green Door Store to see someone we had never heard of and not even really listened to. A Canadian bloke called Mac DeMarco. The promoter, Joe had been telling us how good this guy's music was and how good his live shows were (though he could be a bit eccentric at times). Anyway we turned up, were surprised to see the place was packed, stood near the back and loved it. It immediately became two people's gig of the year, I headed off to the stall to buy the album. We were blown away by the show. The songs were great, country tinged (just a little bit) melodic very catchy indie clearly from across the pond. Also his performance was great, he was funny, a bit bonkers at times, ridiculously hyper, got the crowd hooked from the start. Occasionally he rabbited on about something you couldn't make head nor tale of but then he went straight into great song after great song.

He's also playing at maybe the nicest venue in town. Great sound, perfect size, nice separate proper bar, clean toilets etc.
