What we’re about
Gig buddies was set up in early 2012 (thanks Nicola!) and has grown into one of the biggest and most active Brighton meetup groups.
Brighton is a fantastic place to see live music. We’ve got the venues, promoters, bands and festivals that make it special, but it can be frustrating if you’ve not got friends who want to go to the same gigs as you, and who can come out whenever you want them to. You might be new to Brighton, or your friends have “settled down” and stopped going out so much, or maybe you’ve come out of the other side of settling down yourself. Gig buddies is about getting the most out of the Brighton live music scene and meeting new friendly people while doing it.
It’s important that the group keeps the social side of things at its core, rather than it just being a gig listing site, so each meetup has an organiser who will make the arrangements for when and where to meet. For more details of how it works see our about page.
New people are always very welcome – get involved!
(You may have heard of the other Gig Buddies group in Brighton – the project run by the Stay Up Late charity. They match volunteers with people who have learning difficulties, to go to gigs together. We’re not connected to them, but you should have a look at their website and consider volunteering.)

See all- PINS + Currls (This Friday @ the Albert)The Prince Albert Pub, Brighton
PINS are back for a 10th anniversary tour - I'm sure we had at least one gig buddies meetup for them when they were around 10 years ago. It's the anniversary of their Wild Nights album, but they've got new stuff out as well: I'll Be Yours. Should be a great Friday night at the Albert - come along!
Tickets:
£15.40 @ DICE or SEETICKETS (It'll probably sell out before Friday night, but if not it's £19 on the door)Here's the blurb:
"Since the release of Girls Like Us in 2013, PINS have exuded strength in their danceable alternative post-punk transmissions and earned the trust, endorsement, and creative blessings of rock royalty such as Iggy Pop ... They toured on both sides of the pond alongside everyone from Sleater-Kinney and Warpaint to Best Coast and The Subways.2017 saw them unveil The Bad Thing EP preceded by the single “Aggrophobe” [feat. Iggy Pop].
Wild Nights marked a pivotal point for PINS and now, a decade later they are bringing the album to life once again. The tour will kick off in September 2025 and fans can expect a special setlist that includes all the fan favorites as well as a few surprises."
Support is from the excellent Brighton-based Currls. Who sound like this: Currls: Throwback (Live session)
We can meet downstairs at the Albert before the gig - I'll provide more details of how to find me on the night.
