OWASP Brisbane November Meetup

Details

Apologies for any confusion, updated to the correct date Thursday 29th of Nov.

OWASP Brisbane is kicking off again with a low-key meetup! We're starting off the chapters meetups with a quick presentation and socializing over every developer and hackers staple meal: beer / softdrink and pizza.

We are aiming to have presentations that will be cool for people of any skill level, so if you are new to the scene or been around the block feel free to come along.

Speaker: Alex Penrose
Presentation description: Recent security and privacy breaches highlighted the need for an increased focus on security, however this can be at odds with tight deadlines. How does one test for security vulnerabilities, and is there such a thing as too much security? JollyFrogs (aka Alex) will demonstrate a vulnerable fictitious banking application and a popular method that hackers use to find vulnerabilities in code, which you can use during software development. Also, he will demonstrate how to wrap additional protection around a finished software executable with a focus on reducing development effort.

Beer, pizza and soft drink will be provided. Please RSVP if you'll be able to make it.

Agenda:

  • Arrive from - 5:30 - 6:00

  • Speakers presentation - 6:00 - 6:30

  • Drinks, pizza and socializing - 6:30 - 8:00

Special thanks to Humanised Group (https://humanisedgroup.com) for hosting us and sponsoring food and drinks!
