Ruth Hope-Jones

Head of People & Culture, HUB 24

Ruth began her career as a trainee recruiter in London, and foolishly believed that being an English recruiter would be a distinguishing factor when she relocated to Sydney four years later. She joined a small recruitment business focused on the financial services sector, which was later acquired by Hamilton James & Bruce where Ruth ultimately became a General Manager.

Ruth moved to IBM in 2006 looking to focus on creating tangible business value through excellent talent acquisition, initially leading a recruitment team supporting IBM’s consulting business and later becoming Head of Recruitment for IBM across Australia and New Zealand. Two years later, Ruth accepted an opportunity to move into an HR Partner role with IBM, shifting her focus from attracting and engaging external talent to retaining and maximising the potential of internal talent. After nearly ten years with IBM, Ruth spent 2½ years with NAB, again focused on engaging and retaining employees across a range of roles as an HR Partner.

In January 2019 Ruth jumped at the opportunity to join HUB24 as Head of People & Culture, leveraging all of her previous experience in an exciting whitespace role for a fast-growing and dynamic fintech business. For the past 18 months she has built out the People & Culture function for HUB24, which has required some nimble juggling of strategic and tactical priorities across recruitment and HR topics. It has not been a boring journey!
