Applied Buddhism to Hardships

Details
This event is for anyone who wishes to explore and discuss how Buddhist principles and practice can be applied to real life situations. You do not have to be a therapist to participate.
Activities may include an initial ice-breaker activity and guided meditation to begin. From there, together we will select a pre-written fictional case study of a person in a difficult situation involving some form of hardship. Examples will be:
- Difficulty managing anger
- Feeling under-appreciated at work
- Feeling that a current relationship needs to end
- Addictions (e.g., alcohol, porn, gambling, etc.)
- Recent death of a loved one
- Financial strain and feeling trapped
- Experiencing a sense of aimlessness and loss of purpose
- Feeling isolated and lonely
- Having a negative relationship with yourself
As a group, we'll explore what are the issues the person may be experiencing, how these problems are perpetuated, what can be helpful and unhelpful, and what Buddhist principles can be applicable to alleviate suffering.
This event is an interactive style, welcoming the thoughts, questions and contributions from members in an organic free-flowing dialogue.
This event can help to deepen your understanding of what others, or even yourself are going through. It may also provide a perspective that helps to approach challenges in a constructive and value-aligned manner.
Request for a gold coin donation - There will be a donation box present, for those who would like to support the group and keep it running.
If you need help on the day finding the location, feel free to text David on 0431 525 313.
