đź’Ą Meet Our Speaker đź’Ą
Paul Winnister’s unique career has seen him lead teams to safety in life or death situations across the globe. As a military pilot his work spanned special-forces air insertions into warzones, the delivery of humanitarian aid to vulnerable populations, and the evacuation of wounded troops under attack.
After hanging up his pilot’s wings, Paul transitioned to the corporate world where he’s led many large-scale transformations, mergers and restructures in both Australia and the UK. He now coaches, mentors and speaks on principles of leadership and high-performing teams.
đź’Ą Here's what to expect! đź’Ą
Everyone wants to feel safe at work - both physically and psychologically. In the 1970’s it was identified in the aviation industry that increasing psychological safety also had the effect of reducing physical accidents. Revolutionary new practices were introduced among air crews, which are now being adopted across industries as more organisations realise the importance of psychological safety in the workplace.
Paul Winnister has spent over 20 years operating in high-risk environments as a military pilot and a leader. Since moving into the corporate world he has been speaking and coaching on the principles of psychological safety, which were integral to his time in aviation, and how they can be applied to all high-performing teams.
This presentation sorts the facts from the myths and explains what psychological safety really is and is not… A key focus will be how team culture is critical to enabling psychological safety and that to do so takes a high degree of courage.
Participants will be invited to think about how they can act courageously to engender the right culture in their team.
Psychological Safety in High-Performing Teams will cover:
đź’Ą Understanding how Psychological Safety grew from Just Culture in Aviation, and why it matters to teams today.
đź’Ą Leading and acting courageously as the first step to building a Just Culture.
đź’Ą Why vulnerability and authenticity is a core part of military combat operations.
đź’Ą Practical steps to creating a Just Culture.
đź’Ą How Psychological safety enables faster decision making under pressure.
