What we’re about
This is a book club for people who love to read and wish to expand their range of genres. It is not an 'intellectual' book club, everyone is welcome and it will be more like a discussion!
The idea is to read the book before you attend and then we will discuss it together. Though do feel free to come along if you haven't finished it or haven't read it, but be aware there will be spoilers!
Once the group is large enough, we will vote on the novel for each month.
We meet at Lounge, in Runcorn. This is a dessert cafe. Please note you do need to purchase something from the cafe to attend for us to use their space.
We're just starting out, so please bear with while we get things organised properly :)
Happy reading!

See all- June Book: Human Acts by Han Kang, Deborah Smith (Translator)Lounge Runcorn, Brisbane
Welcome to our June Book Club event!
The theme for this month is books translated to English! Our chosed book is Human Acts by Han Kang, Deborah Smith (Translator). Read about the book below:
A riveting, poetic, and fearless portrait of political unrest and the universal struggle for justice by the acclaimed author of The Vegetarian.
In the midst of a violent student uprising in South Korea, a young boy named Dong-ho is shockingly killed.
The story of this tragic episode unfolds in a sequence of interconnected chapters as the victims and the bereaved encounter suppression, denial, and the echoing agony of the massacre. From Dong-ho’s best friend, who meets his own fateful end, to an editor struggling against censorship; to a prisoner and a factory worker, both suffering from traumatic memories; and to Dong-ho's own grief-stricken mother, their collective heartbreak and acts of hope tell the tale of a brutalized people in search of a voice.
