Bristol Board Games Meetup

RSVP: You must sign up on Meetup for the event. Don’t show up unannounced or if you’re on the waiting list. Please update your RSVP if plans change, to free up space for others.

START TIME: Please arrive by 18:45. Latecomers may be accommodated, but only if they’ve informed us in advance (please post on this event page if you are running late).

CHECK-IN: When you arrive, make sure to check in with the host. This helps us keep track of who’s attending and ensures everyone gets assigned to a games table.

END TIME: Gaming continues until 23:00, but staying late isn’t mandatory. If you’ll be leaving early, check the game length with the table leader.

GAMES: We play a wide range of modern board games. Each table has a leader who explains the rules to players unfamiliar with the game.

TABLE HOSTS: Please do bring board games you’re willing to teach. The more hosts, the better!

ORGANISING TABLES: We usually organise who’s playing what once everyone arrives. Check the Comments section for any pre-organised games.

GAMES: We don't play Chess, Scrabble, Monopoly, Backgammon, Quiz Games, Role-Playing Games, Magic The Gathering, Mafia, Werewolf, etc. as there are other venues or groups for that and we want to make sure that there is enough space for board games. For the same reason we don't tend to play two-player games.

NEW TO GAMING: If you are new to gaming please post on the event page to help us allocate you to a suitable gaming table.

NEW TO THIS MEETUP: If you've not been to one of our events before but have played games in the past, please help us allocate you to a table by letting us know what sort of games you have played and liked before.

LOCATION: We meet at the former skittle alley in the Railway Tavern, Fishponds, just off Fishponds Road on Station Road (the turn you’d take for Lidl). Head left of the bar, then keep walking to find us at the back of the pub. Ask at the bar if you can’t find us.

NO CHARGE: The pub don't charge us to use the skittle alley, so please support them by buying food and drinks at the event.

FOOD: Food is now available from No Boundaries (their hut used to be on Straits Parade) so please do not bring in food from outside.

🕰️ Blood on the Clocktower – Quick Guide
Players: 5–20 + a Storyteller

Goal:
Good team: Find and execute the Demon.
Evil team: Protect the Demon and outnumber the Good.

🎭 Game Flow
Night Phase 🌙
Everyone closes eyes.
The Storyteller secretly wakes players one at a time.
Some get info, some cause chaos, some kill.
Day Phase ☀️
Everyone talks openly and in whispers.
Share info, spread lies, or bluff.
Players can nominate someone for execution.
A majority vote kills the suspect.

💀 Death Isn’t the End
Dead players become ghosts.
Ghosts can still talk, share info, and each has one final vote to use carefully.

👻 Why It’s Awesome
Nobody sits out.
Every game is different.
Full of laughter, bluffing, and dramatic reveals.
