Day Trip to Abergavenny+ Blorenge Loop Hike (Brecon Beacons) 🥾🌱🌷🌳 ⛰️
Details
Join us for a day trip to Abergavenny, a historic market town in Monmouthshire, South Wales. Nestled on the edge of Brecon Beacons National Park, it’s widely regarded as the gateway to this stunning region of mountains, canals, and rolling countryside.
on arrival we will take some time to check out the towns attractions.
Abergavenny Castle – An 11th-century Norman stronghold with fascinating local history.
Linda Vista Gardens – A peaceful retreat featuring sweeping lawns, exotic plants, and specimen trees.
The highlight of the day will be an 8.04-mile circular hike of the Blorenge Loop. We will allow time to pick up some lunch from the supermarket before hand.
Starting from Abergavenny, we’ll climb the historic Llanfoist Inclines, where scenic views of Sugar Loaf and the town unfold as we ascend. The climb is steady and moderately challenging, so a good level of fitness is required.
At the summit of Blorenge, we’ll pause for a well-earned lunch while taking in panoramic views across the surrounding hills and valleys.
From there, we’ll descend towards the picturesque village of Govilon, nestled in the Usk Valley. The village is surrounded by characterful hills and is home to the historic Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal, which runs straight through it.
We’ll continue on to Llanfoist Wharf, then cross the bridge back into Abergavenny to complete the loop.
