"Fiddling while Rome burns"!! with Flick Kelly & Bristol Humanists

Details
Instead of a formal meeting this month, we are having an open discussion about the increasing uncertainty & instability worldwide.
Extremists are gaining power & wars are escalating against a background of accelerating climate change, pollution & extinctions. In our own country, human rights are under attack.
In these circumstances we face many dilemmas as individuals & as humanists. Can there be a “humanist perspective” and would one be useful in these circumstances? Is there anything we can do, as individuals and as a movement? How can we be non-partisan whilst dealing with these politically charged issues?
This will be a largely unstructured discussion, an opportunity to hear everyone’s views & clarify our own. It will be facilitated, where necessary, by committee members present & we will have some possible topics for discussion if needed.
We are going to the Artists Residence on Portland Square, familiar to those who’ve joined us for a drink after our regular meetings. After buying your drink, turn right & go to the furthest room which is usually empty on a Monday.
