We know that many of our members & supporters are keen to walk, and walking is a great way to get to know people. So, we are starting up a Walking Group, organised by our committee member Chris.
The first will be a sociable countryside walk around Uley Bury, to celebrate the glorious month of May. This will be a seven-mile circular walk with a lazy pub lunch (or picnic) halfway. The route will take us along a charming section of the Cotswold Way up onto Cam’s Long Down ridge, taking in panoramic views over the Severn Estuary. We’ll then rise up onto the Bury, an impressive Iron Age hill fort, before descending through woods into the handsome limestone village of Uley to take lunch at The Crown pub. We then follow the valley, through flower-filled meadows back to the beginning.

Where: Starting point will be from Cam, a 45-minute drive north from Central Bristol. There is a train service at 9.45 and 16.39 between Temple Meads and the Cam and Dursley station. We hope to arrange lifts.

When: Sunday 17th May, starting at 11 a.m. Roughly an hour and a half to the pub then the same to return, lunch will take about an hour. We should be finished by 4 pm.

Everyone welcome, whether humanist, or not. Full details available by joining the new Bristol Humanists WhatsApp Walking Group or message bristolhumanists@gmail.com, with Walking Group in the subject line. We will then contact you with further details.
