(Sun 28 Sept) Movie Meetup — Aftersun — Meet from 1 pm, film at 2 pm

Details
We're going to see Charlotte Well's astounding 2022 debut Aftersun.
This is a personal favourite. If you haven't seen it before, run don't walk. If you have seen it, come back and re-experience it in the cinema. It is one-off screening and quite likely to sell out.
We'll meet in the Watershed café/bar from 1 pm, to say hello and chat. Afterwards, we will stop for a while to talk about the film and share our reactions.
Buy your own ticket from the box office or online.
ABOUT THE FILM
The stunning debut from Scottish writer/director Charlotte Wells, Aftersun juxtaposes a hopeful coming-of-age story with a poignant, intimate family portrait that leaves an indelible impression.
— BFI Summary
"It’s hard to find a critical language to account for the delicacy and intimacy of this movie. This is partly because Wells, with the unaffected precision of a lyric poet, is very nearly reinventing the language of film, unlocking the medium’s often dormant potential to disclose inner worlds of consciousness and feeling."
★★★★★ A.O. Scott, New York Times
The mind, too often, moulds memories into prophecies. Colours get dialled up. Emotions solidify. It’s a hard thing to talk about, let alone visualise. That’s why Aftersun, the debut of Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells, is so astounding. She’s captured the uncapturable, finding the words and images to describe a feeling that always seems to sit just beyond our comprehension.
