A weekly Meetup to have some fun, socialise and do some bouldering!

Afterwards, we will go and have a drink together at the nearby pub.

Important note: the Bloc car park closes its gates at 10pm. We recommend you park on the road since it's usually a late finish after drinks

WHO CAN CLIMB?

Anyone can climb!

Beginners / inexperienced climbers:

You'll be in very safe hands. A more experienced member will help you get started and along with the rest of the team help you on your climbing journey. After a few sessions you'll be ready to take a straightforward short safety / house rules test at reception to become a Bloc member.

Experienced climbers:

If you’ve climbed before but not at Bloc, however feel comfortable with general bouldering centre rules, you should be able to sign up as a member at Bloc straight away.

If you're already a member at Bloc then you can of course get going straight away.

GETTING STARTED

We’ll meet at the tables near reception, and the hosts will be there to welcome you, sign you in, and help you get started.

No experience is needed and beginners are very welcome. Many people attend on their own, so you won’t be the only one.

CLOTHING

The best clothing to wear is comfortable, flexible clothing, for example loose trousers or shorts, leggings, t-shirt, or vest.

Trainers are allowed, but climbing shoes are recommended for better grip and performance.

PRICES

Bloc is generously offering a 10% discount on the standard entry price of £14.50 for people attending the Meetup.

Just confirm your attendance on the Bloc website to claim the discount 😁

First-time visitors to Bloc can be signed in for FREE by a Bloc member. If this is your first visit, let us know and we’ll try to pair you with a member.

Shoe hire: £4.50

If you plan to visit Bloc egularly, you could save money with:

  • A Bloc membership (monthly or annual, includes free shoe hire)
  • A MoveGB membership
  • Bloc punchcards

More info on Bloc memberships here.

LOCKERS & CHANGING ROOMS

There are lockers and a small changing area - bring a padlock for the locker (although many people don’t lock their stuff up – it’s generally a pretty safe vibe).

ETIQUETTE & RULES

We want the group to be a fun, happy and secure place where everyone is treated equally, can climb safely and make new friends. Behaviour that makes others feel unsafe, such as unsolicited messages, inappropriate comments, asking for photos, or harassment, are unacceptable and will not be tolerated. If hosts have reason to believe an individual is breaking these rules, they will be banned from the group.

If anyone feels uncomfortable or concerned at any of our meetups, please don't hesitate to get in touch with one of the hosts. No matter how small, we would like to be aware of any issues and take the necessary steps to ensure this group is welcoming to all.

Important information

Our event hosts are there to help you get started, but we are not qualified climbing instructors and are not affiliated with Bloc.

You’re welcome to go at your own pace. There’s no expectation to climb anything in particular.

If you’d like a formal introduction to bouldering, you can book an induction session directly with Bloc.
