Hello everyone! We're taking a little break over the end of the summer, but that just gives us lots of time to read and digest the next book: Los detectives salvajes by Roberto Bolaño

A novel by the Chilean author Roberto Bolaño, published in 1998, Los detectives salvajes tells the story of the search for 1920s Mexican poet, Cesárea Tinajero, by two hunted men: the Chilean Arturo Belano and the Mexican Ulises Lima. But, twenty years after the start of their journey, they are still on the run. The book narrates their remarkable journey through our darkening universe. Told, shared and mythologised by a generation of lovers, rebels and readers, their testimonies are woven together into one of the most dazzling Latin American novels of all time.

It's highly recommended that you read the whole book (in Spanish, English or the language of your choosing!) before the date of the book club; however, you are still welcome to come if you don't quite manage it.

An intermediate/advanced level of Spanish is welcome but not mandatory. The goal of the book club is to analyse the book of the month and engage in literary discussion in Spanish. However, if you are worried your level might not be up to such a discussion, you're still welcome to read, come along and listen in (and join in if you muster the confidence). We are a mixed ability group and you don't need to be able to express your thoughts perfectly!
