This circular route starts at Castle Park and heads south along the Whitchurch Way to the picturesque village of Pensford.

The plan is to stop there for a pub lunch with a second pub stop when we join the River Avon on the way back.

There is a fairly big climb coming out from Compton Dando, which we will take slowly and wait at the top for anyone pushing up. Apart from that it's fairly gentle with plenty of flat stretches.

There are some rough sections, not suitable for very narrow tyres - mine are 28mm. There is a gravelly byway into Woollard for around half a kilometre, ending with a kissing gate. And the path alongside the river can be rough in places, although it should be dry. See photos attached.

The round trip will be around 41km/26mi. Total climbing is 450m/1500ft.

Please respect we ride in a group and the ride leader has to make decisions on behalf of the group, these need to be followed.

The ride leader will stop for catch-ups, at junctions and hills. Please do not overtake the leader this can lead to people getting lost.

Your bike needs to be recently ridden and in good order. You should bring a spare inner tube for your bike. This is to avoid holding up the rest of the group. There is likely to be someone on the ride who can help mend a puncture, although this is not guaranteed.
