Cherry Creek Arts Festival from Kennedy Ballfields (out & back)

Details

Join Brompton—Colorado at the internationally renowned Cherry Creek Arts Festival! Hot off the press—this Saturday, July 5th, we’ll ride a ~15mile out and back between Kennedy Ballfields (just to the East of Cherry Creek State Park / Cherry Creek Dam) and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, cruising along the Cherry Creek Trail. (Our plan to ride along Ralston and Clear Creek trails failed on the pre-ride, so this is our late-breaking just-vetted Plan B!) *Open to people of all skills levels, riding any bike, who can maintain a leisurely ~10-12mph pace.*

Route description: Fully paved, nearly entirely on the ped/bike shared Cherry Creek Trail, with a few brief minutes on side streets in Cherry Creek North. This route is essentially a gradual descent, turn, gradual ascent. There is a short kicker at ~5-6% at the very beginning (descent) / end (ascent).
Ride level: Chill / Relaxed
Pace: ~10-12mph **OR** ~15mph (selection to be made based on those riders who join us, their bikes, their comfortable pace, etc.)
Distance: ~15miles
Duration, breaks: This event is scheduled for 2 hours to allow a bit of time to walk through the Arts Fest, possibly grab a bit, etc. We may extend a bit longer if all riders are interested in spending more time at the Arts Fest.
Depature Time(s): At 9:30am we’ll do a brief round of intros and cover some ride-out basics before departing. Onsite check-in / waiver, helmet, and brake check are required for every rider.

Everyone is welcome and no one will be left behind.

FAQ:

  • How do I (and my friends/family) sign up to participate? RSVP to this MeetUp event, or sign a waiver by smartphone at the event.
  • Can I bring more than one guest? Most likely, yes. Please message Roys if you’d like more than a +1.
  • What should I bring to the event? A clean and safely operable bike, your noggin armor, preferably a basic repair kit (tire levers, tubes, pump), bike lock + funds to cover any purchases or bike corral donations you’d like to make, anything else you personally may need, and an open and positive attitude!
  • What if it rains (or something else)? Event organizers will monitor and post a message to this event’s chat if the event needs to be modified, rescheduled, or cancelled.
  • What are transit options, and what’s the parking situation like? There is free parking available available at the meet point (in a partially paved, partially dirt lot at the Kennedy Ballfields), or it’s a short ride from RTD’s Nine Mile lightrail station. (Remember to pin your car / stop location, if you need to!)
  • Where can I take a bio break? Both Kennedy Ballfields and the Cherry Creek Arts Festival have public restrooms available.
