Brompton Junction to City Island- I SEA You

Details

Intro:
Summer is here and the time is right for biking in the streets. This ride will be considered intermediate to advanced based on the distance. Riders should be comfortable riding in a group setting. There will be pit stops along the way to take photos, water breaks, etc. Our goal is to keep the group on the road as much as possible and then cut loose at Johnnys. If you have never done the City Island ride, you're in for a treat.

This ride is for seafood lovers! Discover a different side to The Bronx as part of our neighborhood series rides

Fyi: There is a Comedy-Drama film starring Andy Garcia called City Island.
If you haven't seen it, its worth watching. Filmed entirely in City Island

Meeting:
We will meet at the Brompton Junction at 11am and head out for a bike ride to City Island in the Bronx. This will be our second go around since we did this ride in March.

The Ride:
We will work our way along the east side and into the Bronx along the newly paved Grand Concourse which has bike lanes. Johnnys Reef in City Island will be the venue. They have good seafood at very reasonable prices. Remember to bring cash as they do not accept credit cards. They do have restrooms and on site ATM.

The Venue
Johnnys is popular amongst various cycling clubs and we are glad to visit this venue.

On the way back we can hop on 242st station and make our way back to NYC.

Depending on how people feel and weather, there is an option to extend the ride and work our way back.

Approx distance : 25-27 miles to Johnnys Reef. You can view the link below:

Standby for possible route adjustment. Mileage still around the same
