The Art of Storytelling in Design
by Joe Cahill

Being able to tell a story is sometimes pure entertainment. A good story can engage, intrigue, and help us process information effortlessly. When it comes to UX, being a storyteller can build stronger relationships with your peers and stakeholders, communicate with a hiring manager, and especially with your case study.

So it’s not that surprising that storytelling has become a fundamental part of any solid user experience strategy. We will discuss how you can effectively talk through elements of how to tell your story. There are two types of stories in the design process. The first one is what we narrate to our team and stakeholders and the second one is what our design communicates to people who are interacting with it.

With 20+ years of experience, an infectious smile, and a big presence, Joe Cahill is one of the most passionate designers you will meet. His experience has led him to successfully design and build products across a range of industries, and has also helped many Fortune 50 teams restructure their product development team operations to successfully create and deploy products more effectively. His passion for the customer and excitement for design has left a rippling impact on the industry, and he continues to spend his time learning about how people experience, interact with and use digital products in this constantly evolving industry.

More Than A Redesign: Using Insights to Reimagine & Reintroduce a Brand
by Aldo Santa Inés

"Publishers Clearing House? Wait, do you mean the giant checks that Ed Mcahon would surprise you with?" Whether you recall a commercial you may have seen or remember your parents (or probably grandparents) playing a word game on our site, PCH has been around for more than 60 years. In this talk, Aldo Santa Inés will take you through how the Product Team at Publishers Clearing House (PCH) is leveraging user insights and best practices to reimagine a brand that we all have experienced at one point or time in our lives. One of the many hurdles companies go through is reaching a broader and younger audience. We will be going through qualitative and quantitative research findings the team has uncovered and how they are using them to create a new experience.

Aldo Santa Inés is a Queens-born, NYC native. For more than 7 years he has immersed himself in the design world learning and collaborating with designers, architects, entrepreneurs, chefs, and artists. Aldo is currently spearheading UX Strategy and Research at PCH.
