Wednesday Evening Puppy Socialization - for pups up to 15 weeks of age

Details

Our focus in this program is dog:dog, dog:people, equipment, and handling socialization as well as settle breaks as needed.

PLEASE READ THIS IN ITS ENTIRETY!

Doors open 15 minutes prior to start time (6:15pm). We close check in promptly at 6:30 and cannot accommodate late arrivals as we will be moderating and can't step away after they're off leash. BE ON TIME!

Walk-Ins not permitted. RSVP is required.
Pups up to 15 weeks welcome!

Please bring current copy of vax records to every session.
You may bring a photo on your phone, but must have full page in focus and next due date. Records provided by breeders must include vial stickers for the vaccine. We're sorry, we cannot accept hand-written records with vial stickers. These are state-mandated guidelines.

Bring enough treats to your session to last the 45 minutes and sized appropriately for the puppy (pea size is good). Remember there will be lots of other puppies, so bring something great! We do not sell treats at our facility.

Health Requirements

  • Puppies must be in their forever home 10 days and free from illness to participate in our Socialization group.
  • NEVER bring dogs who are coughing, sneezing excessively, have colored discharge on eyes or nose, puppies with active diarrhea or worms, are in active treatment for giardia or have housemates displaying any of the above symptoms.
  • Please understand that if we turn a dog away for active symptoms, this is not personal, all of our programs focus on puppies, and we need to protect them.
  • Please don't bring puppies to dog parks during participation in this program.

Payment
This is a cash or online pay program and all participants must make a payment per visit. Cash box will be set up in the training center, or you can pay via our website. Amount is up to each participant, pay what you feel it's worth. This is to prevent cost from becoming a barrier to socialization while still covering our facility and staffing costs. Typical is $10-$20/visit but again, you set the fee.

Children
Children in attendance under 13 must be accompanied by their own adult. I.e. One parent for dog, another for child. There are times where we will need to severely limit interactions if pups are feeling unsure about kids and children often need to follow guidance of instructors as needed by the puppies. Kids can be scary to pups who have never been around them, and this is intended to be a safe environment for them, so we appreciate your understanding if we need to take it slow, or stop interactions all together for some. Kids should not play on equipment.

Other Attendees
Please limit to 1 guest so that we don't get overcrowded in the play areas.

Other Helpful Information Including Late Cancellation / No Show Policy

  1. Pups should be well-exercised prior to the meetup. A 20 min walk prior is good.
  2. Dogs remain on leash until in the training room and at trainer's instruction. Wait to have them greet each other to ensure everyone's comfort.
  3. 2 no-shows or late cancellations (under 24hr notice) will result in prompt banning from the group. Spaces are limited.
  4. Always pick up after your pet. Failure will result in your immediate ban from the group. Please report to RMDT if you witness this.
  5. If you have multiple puppies in your household, bring only one at a time for the best outcome. This allows each to build confidence independent of their housemate.
  6. If your puppy is struggling with fear or reactivity around other dogs or people, please bring it to the instructor's attention upon arrival or message us so we can set up a "safe zone" for your puppy to start Bring cheese or chicken.
  7. "Socializing" older dogs: This is a different process as they are in a different developmental window, typically in private sessions. This article breaks it down. If you need a referral, please email us.
  8. Other Socialization Opportunities at RMDT: Check out our Puppy Day School Program There are two tracks - Social Puppy and Ultimate Puppy. Social Puppy is a great option for those who want thorough professional socialization or for those pups who are more fearful and need some extra support and structure. The Ultimate Puppy Program includes training and private transfer of knowledge sessions on top of socialization.
  9. Bring a positive attitude!
  10. Spread of disease in undervaccinated puppies is a real and serious risk. For the safety of your puppy and for other participating puppies, follow the above guidelines. For more information:(http://avsabonline.org/uploads/position_statements/puppy_socialization.pdf).
