Men's Circle Penang: Brotherhood and Accountability for Men Over 30

Ask a man how he is doing, and he will tell you how busy he is.

I did that for years. Busy was easier than honest.

This men's circle in Penang exists for the part of you that never gets a turn to speak.

What a men's circle is

A men's circle is a structured gathering of men committed to honest self-examination and mutual accountability. It is not therapy. It is not networking. It is a container for the kind of conversation most men have never had.

Ninety minutes. A small group. One question at a time. You speak when it is your turn and you listen when it is not. Nothing said in that room leaves it.

No advice. No fixing. Nobody competing over who has it most handled.

We sit outdoors at Tropical Spice Garden in Teluk Bahang, under the trees, away from the noise of the island. Phones away. Nobody performing.

What you walk out with

Accountability from men who will remember what you said you would do. Language for the thing you have been carrying and could never name. The courage to look straight at what has quietly been running your life. Four or five men in Penang who now know something true about you.

Who this is for

Men have, on average, 50% fewer close friendships than women, and close male friendships have dropped sharply over the last twenty years. In Malaysia, 51% of the population sits at high risk for mental health challenges. None of that shows up on a man's LinkedIn.

This night is for the man doing well on paper and feeling flat underneath. The man who holds it together for everybody and has nowhere to put it down. The man surrounded by people who still feels on his own.

Man to man. No hierarchy. No ego.

Questions men ask before their first circle

Is a men's circle therapy? No. Therapy treats. A men's circle builds brotherhood and accountability between men.

What happens if I have never done anything like this? Most men in that room had not either. You will not be put on the spot. You can pass. You can listen the whole night and still walk out changed.

Do I have to share something personal? Only what you choose. Nothing is pushed, and nobody is pressured.

Who runs it

Men's circles in Penang and Kuala Lumpur are facilitated by Maurizio Rosini, founder of MyMasterMan, a men's coaching and brotherhood brand based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The work combines Stoic philosophy, Jungian shadow work, breathwork, nervous system regulation and tribe based accountability.
