The Sierra Club is a national organization dedicated to Enjoying, Exploring and Protecting the Planet. Founded by legendary conservationist John Muir in 1892, it is now the nation's largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization -- with more than two million members and supporters. Our successes range from protecting millions of acres of wilderness to helping pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

See all- Turtle Trek in Pompano BeachNorth Ocean Park, Pompano Beach, FL
Come join an evening of learning about Broward County's favorite marine reptilians, the sea turtles! Following a debriefing about sea turtles, their habitats, and threats they face, participants walk the beach at this hotspot for nesting. During the walk, we will explain how & why nests are protected, about their incubation cycle and what commonly happens to the hatchlings on a densely urbanized beach like in Broward County. We’ll discuss hatchling disorientation due to artificial lights, why this occurs and what YOU can do to make a difference.
PLEASE SIGN UP ON SIERRA CLUB'S WEBSITE
Please note, there is no promise or guarantee that you will see hatchings. We will not visit or sit near nests that may hatch. Our goal is to educate and inspire you during your time to ensure a fulfilling experience. If you are fortunate enough to witness these amazing animals, it will be something that you will never forget.
We will meet at Pompano Beach's North Ocean Park: 3424 NE 16th St, Pompano Beach, FL 33062. Street parking only PLEASE pay for 4 hours of parking to ensure we are having a fufilling experience.

PRE-REGISTRATION ON SIERRA CLUB IS REQUIRED
Come out for a morning of birding to spot some migratory birds along their journeys on the Atlantic Flyway! We will be birding every other Sunday morning of September and October at different locations throughout the county. Please bring sanitizer to wash hands. Also, if you have any insect allergies or health concerns, please notify me, and bring your EpiPen. We will have a first aid kit with us.
We will walk amongst some of our county's pioneers final resting places to glance into the mature tree canopy of Evergreen Cemetery. The address is 1300 SE 10th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33301.
South Florida becomes an exciting place to bird starting in late July when shorebirds and songbirds from the Arctic Tundra, Great Plains and New England beaches make their migration south for their winter grounds. At Fort Lauderdale's oldest cemetery, the mature Live Oaks and Strangler Figs throughout the property provide an abundance of food and shelter for the bird species that feed on them. The waterway along the east of the property also has a rare coastal ridge cliff where we can check out water birds and look out for water thrushes. Expect to be out from 8am to 10am.
