Debate Night: Late parenthood

People are becoming parents later in life than previous generations, as ideas around family, careers, relationships, and the “right” time to have children continue to evolve. What was once considered an unusually late age to start a family is becoming increasingly common.

But this shift also raises interesting questions about what parenthood looks like at different stages of life. How does age shape the experience of raising a child? And as traditional timelines become less relevant, should we rethink our assumptions about when people are “supposed” to become parents?

Join us for an open and thought-provoking debate as we explore late parenthood, changing family patterns, and the many factors that influence one of life’s biggest decisions.

This debate will follow a British Parliamentary format with eight debaters split into four teams of two.

Participants who wish to speak are highly encouraged to bring a paper and pen. You are welcome to participate even if you have no prior debating experience.
