📚 Book Club Invitation: Cobalt Red by Siddharth Kara

For our October meeting, we’ll be discussing Cobalt Red: How the Blood of the Congo Powers Our Lives by Siddharth Kara.

Cobalt is an essential ingredient in many of the rechargeable batteries that power modern life, from smartphones and laptops to electric vehicles. But behind this technology lies a supply chain that most of us rarely see.

In Cobalt Red, Kara investigates cobalt mining in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and documents the lives of people working at the very beginning of that global supply chain.

But our discussion won’t simply be about accepting or rejecting Kara’s arguments. We’ll use the book as a starting point for broader questions…

📅 Date: Saturday, 24 October
⏰ Time: You are welcome from 11 am on, discussion starts 11.30
📍 Venue: Carpe Diem, Avenue de Tervuren 13, 1040 Brussels

Expect an open and engaging discussion in a relaxed setting, followed, if you like, with lunch together.

As always, you’re very welcome whether you finished the book, read only part of it, or simply want to join the conversation.

🏡 Book Club Home Rules
1️⃣ You’re welcome even if you didn’t finish the book
2️⃣ We listen to understand, not to win
3️⃣ Curiosity, respect, and openness come first

Looking forward to another lively exchange of ideas.
