Sewer Day Quiz

Free admission, advance registration recommended

Brussels is joining in the celebration of the International Sewer Appreciation Day! https://sewerday.org/

How does it work?
Well, it's just a pub quiz, just a little... stinky? Metaphorically speaking.

There will be quite a few questions about sewers, among our usual topics of science, philosophy, religion - and a bit about Belgian beer culture.
So you form a team with your mates around the table, you sip beers, and you answer some entertaining yet enlightening questions - and you might even win something!
And don't forget to give thanks for the sewers that keep us healthy and our homes - shit free!

It works like a standard pub quiz - we sit around a table sipping drinks while the quiz master asks questions about life, the universe and everything and we answer as a team within a given time. In terms of topics, we'll try to cover as much as possible among paleontology, biology, physics, astronomy, chemistry, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, geology, geography, history, linguistics, religion... and a sprinkling of culinary arts!

We are expecing some new swag to be printed over the holidays so there will be some goodies to go around for the brave souls who dare to show off their knowledge... not just for the winners!

We can't stress enough that you don't have to be a "genius" to participate, curiosity and enthusiasm is more than enough. Please come talk to us between or after the rounds, get to meet the other members and tell us what you are passionate about - we'd love to hear about the latest wikipedia rabbit hole you went into and crazy stuff you found out about the early history of middle eastern calligraphy or the chaotic motion of a double pendulum.

The event is organized by the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster, an organization that claims to totally be a real religion, though for some reason no one is taking us seriously, including ourselves. We do promote secular values and rational thinking and are often at odds with the mainstream religious teachings on scientific and ethical topics - but even religious people are welcome, we try to be tolerant and non-confrontational and to spread our message with respect and in good humour.

We'd like to adapt all the benefits of traditional religions movements while excluding the bullshit and sub-par moral framework - thus we need a regular get-together, where we learn some more about the universe while enjoying a drink - the Pastafarian pub quiz is now a regularity at Bar Pilar. Perhaps we should declare it a holy shrine of the Flying Spaghetti Monster? But this works only if they offer a discount for our members!
