Urdu Poetry Reading Circle

For our first session, we’ll explore a few verses of Ghalib, looking at how he plays with words, meanings, and connotations; and how a single sher can spark multiple interpretations. I’ll pick a few shers and discussion prompts to facilitate but alongside, we’ll keep it open for any other ideas or thoughts. Towards the end anyone who wishes can share their own writings too. You’re also welcome to join simply as a listener - no pressure to actively participate if you’d rather just soak it all in🤍
🌿 A few notes about the group:
• This is a space open to all levels - whether you’re fluent, learning, or simply curious
• While it is rooted in South Asian culture, anyone from any background who is interested is warmly welcome.
• The main purpose of this group is to coordinate our meetups and in-person discussions. It’s not a space for memes, random forwards, or unrelated content. Sharing is of course encouraged if it relates directly to what we discuss (e.g. poems, verses, or links we mention in our sessions)
