DRUNKEN ANGEL
Details
THE SCREENING WILL BE SHOWN IN CONJUNCTION WITH A SEMINAR ABOUT THE FILM, WHICH REQUIRES SEPARATE PURCHASE OF A SEPARATE TICKET AND AN EARLIER START TIME. IF YOU ARE JUST ATTENDING THE FILM ONLY, IT IS ADVISABLE TO ARRIVE EARLY AS THESE SEMINARS USUALLY SELL OUT MAKING SEATING VERY DIFFICULT FOR THOSE WHO ARE JUST ATTENDING THE FILM ONLY.
In a Tokyo slum, an alcoholic doctor resolves to save a temperamental, tubercular gangster (Toshirô Mifune, electric in his first collaboration with Kurosawa), but the return of an old Yakuza boss threatens to draw the patient back into his self-destructive lifestyle.
The screening on Tuesday, November 11, will be presented in conjunction with the film course Akira Kurosawa’s Film Noir: Adaptation and Reinvention, taught by Paul Wright, Ph.D. On that date, seating for screening-only attendees will begin at 7:00 pm. Just want to see the film? Purchase your tickets from the BMFI website or box office.
