RENTAL FAMILY

A gig playing “Sad American” at an actual funeral leads a washed-up actor (Brendan Fraser) in Tokyo to a job with a “rental family” agency, staging scenarios that allow clients to work through their personal challenges. But when a job requires him to pose as an absentee father reconnecting with his young daughter, genuine bonds begin to form, blurring the lines between performance and reality.
