Reeling from maladies both physical and spiritual, a composer becomes entranced with an angelic youth whom he regards as the ideal of beauty. Meanwhile, a mysterious plague consumes Venice. Art, time, obsession, and corruption intertwine in this sublime Thomas Mann adaptation.

This screening will be presented in conjunction with the film course The Cinema of Luchino Visconti: Realism and Spectacle, taught by Maurizio Giammarco, Ph.D. Seating for screening-only attendees will begin at 7:00 pm.
