September meetup: Hadoop on Raspberry PI, Elasticsearch vs Solr

Details
Hello everybody,
we are coming back from the summer holiday with a new meetup and two very interesting presentations & demos: we will talk about a Hadoop data lake built on a 3 nodes Raspberry PI cluster and continue with an update on Elasticsearch and Solr use cases and their differences. Thank you so much Radu and Andrei for taking time to come and present.
See below the details of the agenda and look forward seeing as many of you there,
Valentina
Agenda of the meetup:
6:30 PM - gathering
7:00 PM - 7:40 PM Hadoop Data Lake setup, Andrei Daneasa @ Endava
Andrei is working in IT for more than 19 years. He started from the development area and moved gradually towards architecture, BI, Analytics and Big Data. He is Lead Data Consultant in Endava for almost 3 years. His talk will be focused on processing and visualization of data on a Raspberry PI 3-node Hadoop cluster.
7:40 PM - 8:20 PM Elasticsearch and Solr for Search and Real-Time Analytics, Radu Gheorghe @ Sematext
Elasticsearch and Solr are used nowadays for a variety of
use-cases. Originally, it was product search, but even that goes
beyond pure keyword search: autocomplete, did-you-mean, facets,
recommendations, more-like-this are all features found in E-commerce.
Then there's time-series analytics, meant to derive insights from
logs, metrics, social media, and everything else with a timestamp.
We will begin with a demo to introduce both search engines and see
where they're similar and where they differ. Then, we'll discuss
different use-cases and how you can solve them using Elasticsearch
and/or Solr.
8:20 PM - 9:00 PM Pizza and drinks, sponsored by Endava.
